Some Updates
This is a response to some comments I’ve received about this (Lonely Girl Rach has proven surprisingly popular) and a few general updates.
Only one hour of results isn’t very authoritative. This was never meant to be an authoritative study, just a little weekend time-wasting. Nonetheless, I left Rach running overnight, and even now she is still running, and clicking here will take you to an updated word cloud (produced with Wordle, by the way) that uses closer to 14 hours of data.
Here are some specifics.
- The logs run from Aug 2 21:59 until Aug 3 12:29
- There are 2,181 lines in the logs
- lonelygirlrach had 107 chat partners in that time
- The longest chat was 33 minutes
- Only 3 people accused her of being a bot
- 1 of those people continued to talk to her for a further 4 minutes
- She accused 6 people of being bots, hilariously
And here are some potentially interesting word counts, provided by Wordle, in no particular order:
- sexy: 6
- hot: 14
- cyber: 10
- cam: 68
- horny: 34
- lonely: 24
- sex: 50
- fuck: 60
- blowjob: 10
- msn: 58
- asl: 86
So, some conclusions. I think this would have been more interesting if lonelygirlrach had been a more competent chatter — as you can see in excerpts below, she doesn’t make a lot of sense some of the time. I’d blame this partly on the people she was talking to, since she learned everything from them, but even the best Markov AI bots don’t make much sense a lot of the time. Nonetheless, she was obviously convincing enough to string a lot of desperate men along.
I don’t know if I’ll leave her running after this. I don’t think there’s much more to be gained by leaving her in those channels, and this was only supposed to be a weekend project. I’ll be more than happy to hand over the code for the bot to anyone that wants it. Though it’s just a standard Pyborg (note that you’ll need Python to run it), but her existing brain might be of some value (4,876 words, 39,688 contexts, 8.14 per word).
